BORDER CROSSING WIND
Read: Acts 10
The Spirit directed each major advancement of the church.
Unity is not found in uniformity. Unity is a matter of spirit. The choir/orchestra will begin participating in the 9am service on Sunday, September 2.
NO ONE IS BEYOND THE REACH OF THE SPIRIT
Cornelius was the least likely convert. Don’t write anyone off. Cornelius was hungry for truth.
GOD DOES NOT FAVOR ONE MAN OVER ANOTHER. NEITHER SHOULD WE (v10:34-35)
God shows no partiality. He wants everyone, regardless of nationality or ethnic origin, to hear the gospel and believe. In Christ there are no barriers. Since God shows no favoritism, work hard at breaking down walls in your own heart toward people who are different. When we put up barriers, we cause opportunity to diminish.
PEACE COMES THROUGH RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS. (v10:36)
Peace comes in communion with Jesus. Let your peace overwhelm your pain. Find strength and encouragement in Him.
THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS SECURES OUR HOPE FOR ETERNITY (v10:40-41)
It’s the basis of Christian hope. There are lots of religions, prophets and teachers- even Christianity is not the answer. Because HE lives, I live. That’s all. We have to believe in Jesus. It’s not narrow. It’s for everyone who believes.
ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS BELIEVE IN HIM TO HAVE OUR SINS FORGIVEN (v10:43)
Nothing more – nothing less. Just belief in Jesus and our sins are forgiven.

During the summer months we are studying the book of Acts. The series title is “With the Wind.” While creating a design and look for the theme, our team used a windmill in place of the letter “I” in the word wind. The design became alive as Pastor Rick described how we can be just like a windmill in our life. The windmill essentially is just a pole with no power until the wind blows. We need the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives in order to be effective and operate at our full potential.

On July 1, we passed out pinwheels to everyone who attended and used them as another reminder of our need for the wind in our lives. Pastor had people write down an area in their life that they would like to see more power (ie: family life, connected to God through prayer, reading the Bible, overcoming addictions, battling depression, etc). We placed the pinwheels out on the front lawn as a reminder to ask God for his wisdom and power in our lives.
We will be praying over the needs in our church in the weeks ahead. The plan is to keep the pinwheels out on the lawn for a couple weeks.

What if you stepped into the Rooted journey and experienced personal transformation? Rooted is a catalyst for life change where discussion is held in a small group environment, creating a safe space for biblical exploration and practical learning experiences. Rooted provokes questions, conversations, and group experiences that are designed to help you find yourself in God’s story. Beyond a program, seminar, or small group, it is a 10-week experience with personal daily Bible and commentary reading, journaling, and prayer.
Rooted is a significant commitment. We want to be up-front about that, but anything worth doing involves a certain amount of sacrifice. To get the most of this experience, our hope is that you make a commitment to attend all 10 sessions and participate in group discussions. If you cannot be there, group dynamics will be impacted. If you know you will miss more than two of the group meetings, we ask that you attend a different session of Rooted.
The next church-wide launch of Rooted will begin at the Launch Night on Sunday, April 22. The Launch is counted as Week 1. Rooted will then continue each week after the Launch Night through the week of June 24. At the conclusion, we will have our Celebration Night on Sunday, July 1.

As a church staff, we’re always looking for ways to help you develop and strengthen your faith. We believe that RightNow Media will be a tool to serve you as you live out your faith at home, at work and in your neighborhood. There is absolutely no cost or obligation to you. We simply want to bless you and your family, and we hope you will find the resources invaluable. We believe that the collection of children’s videos alone is worth the investment.
