CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT DISCIPLESHIP
A 10-Week small group experience that kick starts church wide discipleship
What if you stepped into a new journey and experienced personal transformation? Rooted is a catalyst for life change where discussion is held in a small group environment, creating a safe space for biblical exploration and practical learning experiences. This is a place where you dive into the elements of Christianity, the Bible, the church, and what it means to become a follower of Jesus Christ. Rooted provokes questions, conversations, and group experiences that are designed to help you find yourself in God’s story.
Rooted is a small group course that lasts 10 weeks, beginning March 5, 2023. The cost is $15.00, to cover the price of the book.
Welcome to Rooted and the next chapter of your story. Our goal for this experience is for you to deepen your connection with God, His church, and your purpose in the epic story He is writing through human history.
Beyond a program, seminar, or life group, Rooted is a catalyst for life-change. Rooted provokes questions, conversations, and beyond-what-is-comfortable group experiences that are designed to help you find yourself in God’s story. You will begin to see God in new ways and hear His voice in surprising places. In a world that can be fragmented, isolated, and empty, Rooted allows you to experience a different way of life: community, intimacy, and generosity. Through this experience we hope you will be emboldened to live out your calling as a radical follower of Jesus Christ. The word “radical” comes from the Latin root radix, meaning “a root.” By rooting ourselves in God’s Word and His truths, we have a firm foundation on which we love the world.
Throughout the course, we have included stories from great leaders and pastors from all over the world to broaden your perspective and challenge your understanding of the global Church. When we listen and learn from believers around the world, we gain a deeper understanding of the whole Gospel.
Rooted is a significant commitment. We want to be upfront about that, but anything worth doing involes a certain amount of sacrifice. During the 10-week experience, you will go through various individual exercises (daily Bible and commentary reading, journaling, and prayer) and then meet weeklly in your groups to talk about what you have learned. You will be surprised what happens when your group gathers and begins to honestly share. What God is doing in the group soon becomes the curriculum as the Holy Spirit moves people to open up and share personal stories and feelings. This is where transformation happens.
There are three additional experiences designed to deepen some of the areas we explore. We’ll pray and fast together, share our faith, and serve together. on top of these experiences, we’ll also discuss where we are in our journey with Jesus. No matter where you stand in your relationship with Jesus at the beginning of Rooted, there is always room to move forward. For some, that may mean deciding for the first time to follow Jesus and/or getting baptized. For others, it will mean letting go of the things of this world to follow His call more courageously. These kinds of defining moments will mean your life will never be the same. After 10 weeks together, we’ll join with all the other Rooted groups to celebrate the journey.
Come with an open heart and mind, and see how God will surprise you!

How is Rooted different than other Bible Studies?
ROOTED is not just another Bible study. It’s not a typical discipleship program. This material originally came from Africa, where it had a transformational effect. The title was “Mizizi” – Swahili for “Roots”. It was developed by, Pastor Muriithi Wanjau of Mavuno Church in Nairobi, Kenya. It is unlike most programs or studies as it is an experience and a journey. It will involve five days of short homework preparation each week which include writing prayers to God, journaling, listening, and challenging one another to grow in new ways. If you’re willing to invest in this completely, your perspectives may be completely transformed.
Can I share a book with someone?
Because this is a listening and journaling experience, it is essential that you do your own reading, praying, and writing. Having your own “guide” on this adventure will be essential. Buy your own book, invest your time, and see what God might do to surprise you.
Is childcare provided?
Childcare will be provided for those groups that meet at the church on Sunday mornings at the regular scheduled times.
