Please Elaborate on the Black Experience Panel

On October 22, Please Elaborate is hosting another live panel, “Please Elaborate on the Black Experience in America,” and inviting Capital to join the conversation! 

PE’s goal is to help young adults become biblically literate and culturally aware. And as a ministry of a diverse group of young adults, we reach our goal by stewarding open conversations about pertinent topics in our cultural climate. We ask hard questions and explore varying perspectives in an attempt to better understand and love our neighbors.  

In May, Please Elaborate hosted the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Experience panel for the church. It was a huge success. This upcoming panel will continue to bring a diverse array of speakers and perspectives to the discussion of race in America. Join PE and Pastor Savannah as we hear from speakers including Black young adult leaders in the Sacramento area, as well as Pastor Samuel Gordon, Dr. Stacie Walton, and other intergenerational voices on this critical topic 

The event begins at 7pm in the Auditorium. Save your spot in person and register online at capitalonline.cc/pe. Otherwise, you can watch the livestream from your home or on your phone. We hope to see you there!

The Katinas have a long history with us at Capital. Their music and spirit is always inspiring. Join us Sunday, November 7, at 9 or 11am as they lead us in worship.  If you are lost, may you find a home here. If you are broken, may you find healing here. If you have a dream, may you dream even bigger here. We can change the world, one heart at a time, through music with a message. This event is FREE!

We have kids activities for ages birth-5th grade. If you are a guest, check in on the east entrance (solar panel parking lot) and a host can help get you to the right rooms! We would also love to offer our first time guests a free coffee from the @BigTreeCoffeeCA truck.

Middle School students meet at the 11am service only in Room A24.

An Evening to Reconnect and Re-engage

Women of all ages and life stages are invited to join us for Sisters’ Night on Friday, October 15, at 7pm, both in person and online! Throughout the year, women of Capital come together to spend time in prayer with Jesus, worship together, and fellowship with each other! This is a special time to set aside the stresses of life and reconnect with the Spirit. Come to be encouraged and equipped! Childcare is available with pre-registration at capitalonline.cc/women for kids ages birth through 4 years old.

Grocery Giveaway & Homeless Outreach

If you would like to serve at our Grocery Giveaway or our Homeless Outreach, click the link below to access the volunteer form.

If you would like to donate food, toiletries, winter jackets, new thick warm socks, blankets, or durable two-man tents, we would love to receive them. We have barrels at each main entrance to the Lobby that you can leave your donations in, or email michelle.higa@capitalonline.cc to coordinate a drop off time. You can also donate directly on the SecureGive app at the Outreach/Food Closet line. If you would rather write a check, simply write Outreach/Food Closet in the memo section. 

We have extra opportunities to supply turkeys this year again for our November and December giveaways. If you would like to sponsor a turkey for a family, they average about $10 a turkey. The goal is to provide 100 families with a special turkey dinner over the holidays. We will be providing BBQ burgers for the homeless at these events as well.

Saturday, October 30 | 4-6pm

Capital Kids is excited to host a safe and socially distant Halloween Drive Thru for our community. From 4-6pm on October 30 (Halloween eve), the West Parking Lot will be transformed into an interactive, fun-filled world that we hope kids and their families will remember for years to come. Kids of all ages will be able to participate from the safety of their own vehicle! We hope to se eyou then!
