Dear Friends of Capital Compassion,
When you partner with Capital Compassion, lives are truly being impacted and transformed—and we see it happening every single day.
Often, transformation doesn’t happen all at once. It happens step by step and day by day. One woman, Nora, had been coming to us for months. She was trapped in an abusive situation and facing both mental health and substance use challenges. Each time she came in, we gently encouraged her toward help, knowing the timing had to be right. Then this week, she came in ready. Within hours, a door opened for her to enter rehab. One of our volunteers drove her there, helped her get settled, and today she is experiencing real change, peace, and hope for her future.
We’ve also seen incredible breakthroughs through our Winter Sanctuary connections. A couple who had been walking a very difficult road began coming to us after being dropped off nearby each morning. Just three weeks after connecting with our team, we were able to place them into a tiny home. I personally drove them there, and today they are housed, cared for, and moving forward in a new direction.
These moments are powerful reminders of why we do what we do. Every person who walks through our doors is someone we choose to love. We believe God has called us to love the person right in front of us—to ask, “What can I do to help you?” That’s how the world changes: one person, one life at a time.
Another example is Ed, a man my wife and I met at a McDonald’s. He’s been coming almost daily, working hard to get his life back on track. Recently, on his own, he attended church because he knew he needed God. After asking questions and seeking answers, he chose to pray and invite Jesus into his heart. He shared that he immediately felt different—lighter, with a burden lifted. While Ed still faces challenges, we’re now helping him get his Social Security, EBT, insurance, and housing steps in order. Hope is taking root.
None of this happens without you.
Thank you for partnering with Capital Compassion. Your support makes it possible to love people well, meet real needs, and walk alongside individuals as their lives are transformed. We have more work to do than we currently have the capacity for, and with additional resources, we can expand our team, feed more people, and help even more lives move toward hope and restoration.
We are grateful for you and honored to serve together.
With gratitude and hope,
Pastor Rick Cole
