Dear Friends of Capital Compassion,

On April 1st, Mathias was released from Folsom Prison with nowhere to go. That night, he found himself alone on the streets with no support and no clear path forward.

The next morning, April 2nd, he walked through the doors of Capital Compassion.

What followed over the next two weeks can only be described as a series of open doors and restored hope. We were able to help him locate and recover his belongings from county jail, reconnect him with critical resources, and begin rebuilding what had been lost.

As Mathias expressed a desire to enter treatment, we worked quickly to connect him with a rehab program. Today, we were able to personally take him and his belongings to a 90-day residential rehab program—giving him the opportunity to get completely clean and sober and begin transitioning toward stable housing.

In the midst of this process, Mathias has also been reconnecting with his faith. He carries a Bible with him, knows scripture, and has been praying with our team for a new beginning. He has expressed deep gratitude for the support he has received and amazement at how quickly his life has begun to change.

This is what transformation looks like when community steps in at the right time.

Mathias’ story is just one of many. Every day, we are walking alongside individuals who are experiencing homelessness, incarceration reentry, addiction, and deep isolation—and helping them find a path forward.

We could not do this work without you.

Your generosity, prayers, and partnership are what make it possible for doors to open, for lives to be rebuilt, and for hope to be restored in moments where it feels out of reach.

We also want to invite you to join us for our upcoming Vision Night on April 24th at the Sheraton Grand Hotel. This will be an evening of stories, impact, and vision for what’s ahead. Dinner is provided and there is no cost to attend. Register today!

We would be honored to have you with us—and encourage you to bring a guest who might be moved by what God is doing through this work.

Thank you for standing with us and for believing that change is possible.

With gratitude and hope,

Pastor Rick Cole
