Responding to Covid-19

As COVID-19 (coronavirus) affects an increasing number of people in our communities, Capital Christian Center is committed to providing care and help. This crisis is an opportunity for you to share God’s love with people in need. One of the most valuable gifts you can give is your time. Due to safety precautions ONLY adults 18+ and older can participate in our “Give Help” serve opportunities.
According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), higher risk individuals include adults age 65 and higher and people who have serious chronic medical conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease. If you fall into the categories listed above, please do not sign up to serve.

DONATE GOODS

DRIVE-THRU DONATION DROP OFF
Drop off your donation items at our main church building on the west entrance (fountain side) on Sundays, from 12-1pm.

Capital’s Food Closet is collecting food and non-food items for Care Kits that will be donated to families in need and those quarantined. These are the items that are most needed:

Basic Items for Food Shares Distributions:

Spaghetti Sauce & Pasta
Peanut butter
Canned meat, soup, and other canned goods
Cereal
Mac & Cheese
Toiletries
Hand sanitizer & wipes

Items for Isolation Bags for Seniors:

Basic personal hygiene items
Hand Sanitizer
Packaged snacks
Cough drops (small; pre-packaged)
Activity books – crossword puzzles; word search, etc.
Playing cards
Games that can be played individually or alone
Magazines & small devotion books
Anything else – think outside the box!

SEW MASKS

Medical staff is in desperate need of N95 masks for their personal protection. With the shortage, those who have sewing abilities are being asked to help make masks for health care workers during this season. WE HAVE PREPARED OPTIONS FOR WORSHIP TO KEEP YOU SAFE.

NEW SERVICE TIMES

In an effort to allow more participants to attend the live services, our service times will move to 9 & 11am. We are only allowed to have 100 people on campus during a live event.

Due to California COVID-19 guidelines, we have limited capacity on our campuses, so reserve seats for only your immediate household. Please note, you will be required to complete a self-check health assessment prior to receiving your reservations.

Reservations for the weekend will be released on July 8 at 9am.

Please note, if the service time you would like to attend has reached capacity, you can continue to join us online.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Each area below will be assessed and evaluated weekly and adjustments/tweaks will be made as necessary. We will communicate through email, social media, and our website for what you can expect each week with FAQ’s.

Social Distancing Implementation

Minimizing close contact among guests.
Room configurations and capacity limitations.
Family style seating (no child care provided at this time) but feel free to bring activities for your children to help keep them occupied.
Our café has not reopened but feel free to bring your own beverages into service with you.
Masks required on campus and if you don’t have one, we’ll provide one for you!

Self Check Health Assessment

To keep you and all our staff, volunteers, and attendees safe, we are following local CA COVID-19 State health department guidelines and requiring that everyone is assessed for COVID-19 symptoms and risk factors before entering our campus.

Here are the questions you will be asked when you reserve your seats.

Keep in mind, if you answer yes to #1 or #2 we are unable to have you on campus at this time. Please monitor your health and we hope to see you back on campus soon.

If you answer yes to #3, #4 or #5 please evaluate the environments you’ve been exposed to and if there’s any reason to reconsider being in a large community gathering.

Self-Check Health Assessment Questions:

#1 Have you/any member of your household had any signs or symptoms of a fever in the past 24 hours such as chills, sweats, felt “feverish”, or had a temperature that is elevated for you/100.0F or greater?
#2 Have any member of your household had any close contact in the last 14 days with someone with a diagnosis of COVID-19?
#3 Have you/any member of your household traveled internationally or outside of the state in the last 14 days?
#4 Have you/anyone in your household visited or received treatment in a hospital, nursing home, long-term care, or other health care facility in the past 30 days?
#5 Are you/anyone in your household a health care provider or emergency responder that may potentially have a high level of exposure to COVID-19?

Sanitization/Cleaning Protocols

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where needed & appropriate for staff, volunteers, and guests.
Detailed safety/sanitization protocols have been implemented.

Online Service Options

Online service times will move to 9 & 11am.

Returning to Church

We are grateful that our State and County leaders have opened the door to begin in-person meetings on our campus. In the last several weeks, we have monitored guidelines and best practices for gathering in a safe manner. After a significant amount of prayer and preparation, we will slowly resume ministries that can benefit from remaining within the 100 person maximum prescribed. We’re committed to creating an environment that meets government recommendations for safety. To make that possible, our spaces have been redesigned to create a sanitary, touchless environment that allows for physical distancing.

As we return to hosting in-person gatherings, we will open in phases that will stay in compliance with federal and state recommendations and allow our community to begin attending our House of Worship. The first phase will be closed attendance support groups beginning the first week of June. Each week in our pastoral staff meeting, we will consider other groups within our Capital family. Opening select ministries in phases will allow us to make sure we are adhering to all of the guidelines.

The big question of the day is: “When will we meet again on Sunday’s?” At this time, we are not planning to open the Auditorium on a Sunday morning due to the limit of a maximum of 100 people. We will continue meeting through online services which can be accessed through Facebook, Youtube, or our website at www.capitalonline.cc. Our State and County leaders have indicated they will reevaluate the capacity guidelines after 21 days. We are hopeful they will determine to increase the maximum number allowed for public gatherings. At that time, we will reevaluate opening for Sunday services. We will have volunteers trained and equipped to host a great experience.

What We’re Doing:

Staff and volunteers will be wearing masks.
Additional hand-sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the building.
All services will be a touchless experience, and all high-volume areas will be thoroughly sanitized between services.
Capital Kids will not be available at this time.
No water fountains will be open or usable.
No hospitality food or beverages will be offered.
No offering baskets will be passed. Instead, there will be an area in the back of the auditorium for guests who want to give.
All seatback materials, papers, and pens will be removed.

How You Can Help:

If you don’t feel well or have health concerns, please stay home and join us at capitalonline.cc/live.
We encourage you to wear a mask, and will have one available to you if needed.
Please wash your hands and use hand sanitizer often.
Maintain a distance of six feet between yourself and other guests.

Church is Essential

President Trump announced today that “churches are essential.” He also made it known that he would like churches to be allowed to open this weekend. President Trump asked the CDC to publish standards to allow in-person worship services to resume. The guidance provided on the CDC website can be accessed at this link: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/faith-based.html

When it is time for us to meet in our building, we will be implementing the recommendations provided by the CDC. This is a very involved process and will require sensitivity, patience and understanding from all of us.

In response to the President’s words today, I have received several inquiries asking if we will meet on Sunday. We remain committed to adhere to our State and County guidelines. We received the following recommendation from our national Assemblies of God attorney, Richard Hammar: “Continually research federal, state, and local mandates and recommendations and follow the most restrictive one. Resuming church services is very dangerous unless done in compliance with applicable directives.”

Governor Newsom announced today that he intends to release guidelines to resume in-person religious services. He indicated this would be provided on Monday. This is encouraging news. We are anxious to meet in the family room of our church sanctuary.

As I shared in last Sunday’s message, “Our responsibilities outweigh our rights.” We have the right to assemble. More importantly, we are responsible to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, the counsel of our elders, the Scriptures and the mission to love all God’s sons and daughters in our community and world.

We have not yet determined the date we will gather again in our building. We are evaluating the information that comes our way every day. Our intent is to make this announcement as soon as it is clear to our leaders and elders that it is the right time for your welfare and the welfare of our community.
