What are Connect Groups?

We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren’t always easy to find. That’s why Connect Groups exist—to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.

Our hope is for every person at Capital to be connected in meaningful community through a Connect Group. We want people to gather together based on things they enjoy and that are important to them. Essentially, the things you are already doing in your life are the things that can make up your Connect Group! From marriage groups, parenting groups, lunch groups, Bible study groups, to creative arts groups, our groups are as varied as we are.

Actually joining a group can be intimidating, but at least finding one is as easy as sorting by the characteristics that are most important to you.

After you join a group, you can chat with other members, see when your next group event is, and access group study materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at a Connect Group meeting?

You’ve probably seen Connect Groups meeting and not even realized it. A Connect Group looks like friends at lunch, teams playing basketball, or people studying a book or topic of interest. At its core, a Connect Group is a small gathering of people, and it is as much about who you do it with as it is about what you do. By participating in Connect Groups, you can expect to connect with others through a common activity, engage in life-giving conversation, and request prayer.

What if I don’t like the first group I try?

The truth is, not everyone will find the best fit with the first group they try. This is why we encourage you to select a few groups that interest you, contact the leaders, and try out a couple different groups before choosing the best one for you. The simple strategy to finding success in Connect Groups is to not give up. We believe there is a group that is right for everyone – including you!

Where do Connect Groups meet?

Connect Groups happen all over the Sacramento region and in every setting you can imagine. Some even take place on our campus!

How often does a Connect Group meet?

Our Connect Groups meet during three sessions a year – winter/spring, summer, and fall. During the session, most groups meet once a week. Connect Groups are meant to bring meaning and community into the flow of your life, so even if you can’t attend every meeting, there is still great value in joining a group.

How long do Connect Groups stay together?

Most Connect Groups meet for a session (6 or 13 weeks). This way, new people can join groups easily and regularly. Also, this format allows you to try multiple groups each year. As relationships form, some groups choose to stay together for consecutive sessions, but new members are always welcome.

Is there childcare available?

Childcare varies from group to group and is based on need and the function of the group. When you search our directory for a group, the group profile will indicate if childcare is available.
