The Table | Speaking Words of Life | 2019.11.03

SPEAKING WORDS OF LIFE

Read: Revelation 19:6-9, Ephesians 4:29-32, Proverbs 18:21

1. Develop an appetite for speaking words of life. The word, love in Proverbs 18:21 means, “an appetite for.”

2. A key to changing the way we speak is to slow life down and recognize the “cues.”

3. The antidote to destructive speech is to replace it with good speech.

4. Physiologically, words affect our brains.

Next Steps:

· When you hear negative communication come out of you, slow down and arrest that negative spirit.

· Set your mind on the good things God has provided. Sit down at His table of provision.

· Purposefully communicate encouragement to three people every day.

THE TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF PRAYER

Read: Matthews 6:7-13

Michael Jr.’s Funny Prayer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVBBpM-SXX4

Begin with remembering who God is: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”

There are Hebrew names for God in the Old Testament that have deep meaning. They help define the immensity of who He is.

HE COVERS OUR SIN

Jehovah-Tsidkenu – He is our righteousness

Jehovah-M’Kaddesh – He sanctifies us, helps us grow

HIS SPIRIT LIVES IN US

Jehovah-Shalom – He is our peace

Jehovah-Shammah – He is always with us

HE HAS THE POWER TO HEAL US

Jehovah-Rophe – He is our healer

HE PROVIDES FOR OUR NEEDS

Jehovah-Jireh – His provisions will be seen

HE SECURES OUR PRESENT AND FUTURE

Jehovah-Nissi – He is our banner and goes before us

Jehovah-Rohi – He is our shepherd and guides us where to go

Pray for His will to be done: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Pray for yourself and your family.

Pray for our church. Leaders, volunteers, outreach.

Pray for our nation. Begin with city, state, then nation.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Pray for His provision: “Give us this day our daily bread”

Pray for forgiveness and the grace to forgive others: “and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

Pray for strength to overcome temptation: “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
