CONNECT |Communicate from the Heart

Read: Matthew 12:34James 3:8

Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines communication as:“a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior.”

Why is communication so important to relationships?· All relationships are fueled by communication.

Communication is not easy.· We live in a nation where 50 percent of wives say husbands don’t communicate.· 86 percent of those divorced say the cause was deficient communication.· 25 percent of young people indicate they have never had one meaningful conversation with their father. WE NEED HELP!

Our words have the power to take our relationships to a new level of impact and intimacy.
1. The foundation of communication is trust“Kind words are good medicine”(Proverbs 15:4 CEV)
2. Communication is always from the heart“Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34 ESV)
3. Communication that makes an impact is honesty
Self-evaluation:· How many times last week did you give the “fine” answer?· How many times did it just seem easier to not be honest?· How many times did staying silent leave a relationship where it was when a moment of honesty could have deepened the relationship?
If we want our relationships to grow, honesty is nonnegotiable. When we are honest, we will always be “speaking the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15). Look at the word truth in that verse, and look also at love. It takes both-truth wrapped in love.Truth without love doesn’t work. Love without truth is equally disastrous.

Thinking about My Relationships
Points to Ponder: It takes courage to communicate.Verse to Remember:“Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21 NASB).
Questions to Consider: Is there someone who needs to hear you say….“I want to begin rebuilding trust”?“I recognize that my words reveal my heart?“I forgive you”?

Singing Christmas Tree Auditions

Singing Christmas Tree Auditions

Singing Christmas Tree (SCT)

Saturday, August 3, at 9am in A24

It’s amazing to think that this is the 63rd Annual Singing Christmas Tree! Nearly 750,000 people have experienced this kind of rich historical experience since 1956 and it only happens because our entire Capital church family gets excited about presenting the Christmas story with excellence and passion! Did you know that it takes everyone in our church to help put on the largest outreach Capital presents all year? When we serve together, we find community! From singles to families, those who have purposely served together year after year, have forged many long-lasting relationships and there’s still room for you! We want you to join us!

This year’s Singing Christmas Tree, A Very Merry Christmas is set in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. It was a timeless era with that vintage Christmas feel.

    CONNECT | Love Everyone Always

    Read: Luke 10:25-37

We exist to love God, love others, and transform our world. We do this through three doorways: Gather (for worship), Grow (through Connect Groups), and Go (through serving).

Connect Groups will launch September 1. Leader Trainings are available for those interested:
    • Sunday, June 30, at 12pm in the Chapel
    • Sunday, July 7, at 10:30am in the Guest Lounge

    LOVING EVERYONE – LOVING SOMEONE
Everyone means there is no one outside the limits of my love; someone means I can only practice love toward people I am with right now.

LOVE IS MORE THAN AN ATTITUDE. IT MUST BE TRANSLATED INTO PRACTICAL ACTIONS.

    1. Love unconditionally
    2. Pursue others with respect
    3. Share Interests
    4. Be forgiving
    5. Chose joy

    Summer Connect Groups

    Summer Connect Groups

    CONNECT GROUPS

Connect Groups have one, simple purpose: to bring people together. We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren’t always easy to find. That’s why Connect Groups exist—to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.

    SUMMER GROUP STUDY

    June 5, 12, 26 & July 10, 17, 24

Join us for a summer study as we launch our Connect Groups at Capital! We will be meeting together in the Chapel for six Wednesday evening sessions following 6:13 Prayer to continue to build our relationship with Jesus in a small group setting. We’ll join together at 7pm in the Chapel to hear a short teaching and then have opportunity for table discussion. We’ll be working through Dr. Tony Evans, “The Power of Jesus’ Names” and applying the truth of who Jesus is to our lives. Let’s join together in our pursuit of a deeper relationship with Jesus and all He has in store for us.

Kids and Youth activities are available during this study. See more info below.
