What is Rooted?

Beyond a program, seminar, or small group, Rooted is a catalyst for life-change. Rooted provokes questions, conversations, and beyond-what-is-comfortable group experiences that are designed to help you find yourself in God’s story. It is a 10-week experience with personal daily Bible and commentary reading, journaling, and prayer – that takes transformation through small group discussions.

Next session opens Fall 2019

F.A.Q.

Who is Rooted for?
YOU! Whether you are new to church, or have been in church your whole life, Rooted will transform the way you live.
What are the upcoming dates for Rooted?

The next Rooted session will begin Sunday, March 17. It is a 10-week session that will go through May 25 with a final Celebration night on Sunday, May 26, 2019. We are asking that all church attenders sign up to be in a group if you haven’t yet participated. Register today!

Can I lead a group?

To be a facilitator for Rooted, you must first be in a group as a participant and complete the 10-week session. Once you have completed your participation we have an application for you to fill out. To verify completion of participation and to receive an application, please email vanessa.farley@capitalonline.cc.

What types of experiences take place?
There are three experiences designed to deepen some of the areas we explore. We’ll pray and fast together, share our faith, and serve together.
What is the cost for participating?

There is a one-time fee of $25 per person. This includes your materials for the 10-week journey, as well as a Celebration Night on the concluding week.

How do I get paired in a group?

Our administrative team will pair you with a group and facilitator. There is a maximum of 10-12 people in a group (including the facilitator).

What is the commitment?

Rooted is a significant commitment. We want to be up-front about that, but anything worth doing involves a certain amount of sacrifice. There is a cost for the study materials. To get the most of of this experience, our hope is that you make a commitment to attend all 10 sessions and participate in group discussions. If you cannot be there, group dynamics will be impacted. If you know you will miss more than two of the group meetings, we ask that you attend a different session of Rooted.

Where will my Rooted group meet?

Our facilitators are meeting both on campus at Capital and also in home locations in Spring 2019. If you are needing childcare, your group will most likely be hosted on campus. You will be implemented into groups and given your location address at the first launch meeting. Everyone gathers together for Launch Night on Sunday, March 17 at 6pm where you will meet your group and facilitator.

All group gatherings (Launch Night, Week 8 meeting, and Celebration Night) will have childcare provided for children ages 0-4yrs.

When will I get my book?

If you register to be in a ROOTED group, you will receive your book at the Launch Night on Sunday, March 17.

Can I participate in more than one Rooted group at the same time?

You are able to complete the Rooted experience over and over again as we roll out various rounds. However, we do not encourage being in multiple groups at the same time.

How is Rooted different than other Bible Studies?

ROOTED is not just another Bible study. It’s not a typical discipleship program. This material originally came from Africa, where it had a transformational effect. The title was “Mizizi” – Swahili for “Roots”. It was developed by, Pastor Muriithi Wanjau of Mavuno Church in Nairobi, Kenya. It is unlike most programs or studies as it is an experience and a journey. It will involve five days of short homework preparation each week which include writing prayers to God, journaling, listening, and challenging one another to grow in new ways. If you’re willing to invest in this completely, your perspectives may be completely transformed.

Can I share a book with someone?

Because this is a listening and journaling experience, it is essential that you do your own reading, praying, and writing. Having your own “guide” on this adventure will be essential. Buy your own book, invest your time, and see what God might do to surprise you.

Is childcare provided?

Childcare will be provided for those groups that meet at the church on Sunday mornings at the regular scheduled times. Please make sure to note your need for childcare at the time of registration. Please also check with your facilitator to make sure you are meeting during a time that childcare is offered. All group gatherings (Launch Night, Week 8 meeting, and Celebration Night) will have childcare provided for children ages 0-4yrs.
