About us
God Colors
“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.” –Matthew 5:14
What an amazing thought, we are light. Not only do we illuminate the darkness, but by our shining, we light up the world, God’s creation, so that others can see His kingdom. We show the world God’s expression. We ourselves become that expression. The rest of the passage says, “God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand.”
We are that expression of God. What an honor, God the artist, us, His expression, His masterpiece. Every one of us different, every one of us expressing a different part of God as we use the gifts and abilities He’s given us to “let our light shine.” As they are “fully themselves,” they don’t have to imitate anyone else. They use their talents and abilities to live out their God-ordained personality as they are “fully in God,” they live in Him, and He lives in them, they find their identity in Him, with purified hearts, and pure motives, they express Him to this world. It’s also something we pray for the children in Capital Kids, that as we pour our lives into them, as we teach them, love them, worship with them, they would become the full expression of God that He has made them to be. By discovering their talents and spiritual gifts, they would live as light, bringing out the God-colors of this world. It’s the reason you see all the colors in our Capital Kids logos, the paint, crayons, every color different, yet beautiful, a representation of our children. All of them very different and a unique expression of our God.
Making Disciples
We believe our ultimate purpose is laid out simply in scripture, to “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19). We exist for that purpose, to make every effort, tangent with you, to create an environment where your kids fall in love with God. From the moment your babies arrive, to the time your child leaves as a sixth grader, we make it our main objective to expose your child to the narratives, stories, parables, and teachings found in the Bible, so they can begin to understand who God is, how He created them, what He has done for them through Jesus, and how His Holy Spirit is a part of their everyday lives.
We accomplish this through a three-part model
Large Group Teaching & Worship
Our weekend services center around dynamic teaching and group worship. We are dedicated to doing everything we can to help your child understand the Bible and God. We use various methods and angles to speak their language and teach in a way that they get it. As best we can, we divide our children in age categories, so that the teaching and music are age specific and are appropriate for them. And as your child matures we continue to increase the depth of what we teach, introducing larger topics and themes so they can begin to understand God. We use our weekend services as well to focus on worshiping and praying together, and we spend a good amount of time learning our “I got it” verse, that we have for each series. We do all of this, with a large focus of fun and creativity. We want you child to walk away enjoying their time with us.
Small Groups, Conversation & Prayer
Our Wednesday night service, Midway, takes a small group approach. We use this time to dig deeper into what we learned on Sunday, utilizing group discussion and a question/answer time so that your child isn’t just hearing but is talking out what they have been learning. We use this time as well to spend developing closer and deeper relationships among the students as we talk about God, and spend time in prayer with each other. We do all this while having a lot of fun too!
Parenting
We believe that the ultimate power and influence “to make disciples” of your children rests in your hands as their parents. It is a God-given directive to you as a parent, and it is our job to help you in this. The few hours we spend with your child are very purposeful, and full of teaching, prayer, scripture memorization, and worship. The rest of the week is under you. God blessed you with your kids because He trusts you! We want to help you be the parents God meant you to be. We are developing parenting classes, parenting tools, resources, and follow-up devotions you can do via Youtube to further discuss our weekly teachings at home with your family. We believe in you, and we believe in the power God has given you as a parent. Always remember that they see what you teach, more than they hear what you teach. The life you live is a powerful catalyst for their faith. Grow in your love for God, and your relationship with Him. Work your hardest to provide a good marriage for them, and you are on your way to building a strong foundation for their lives. God will help you along the way, at every turn and every crisis. And we are here to journey with you and help in any way we can.
